EMER O BOYLE
THE REFLECTIVE EYE
The Reflective Eye draws from the concept of dependent origination – all things arise in relation.
158 mirrored cubes, interlock to form the curved shape of an eye. The optical effect connects the surrounding space with the flow of people who move through it, bringing a multitude of changing perspectives together to form a fluid view of reality.
The sculpture was commissioned for the opening of The O’Brien Centre for Science at University College Dublin.
It was designed with the assistance of UCD physicist Oran Morris and built with the assistance of artist Emma Finucane.
